2008-2005: Customs clearance in the Benelux countries.

Improvement of the BIS application and development of new functionalities (new XML interface with the Belgian Customs authorities, for example).

Special achievements:

• The quality of the application could be tremendously improved, so that end users declared themselves as satisfied of the results, after years of complaints.

• Business requirements and change requests could be written with end users and other professionals/third parties, and directly implemented to get faster results.

• Financial losses through incorrect Customs declarations could be reduced to a minimum.

• The Uniface development team could be reduced to one person.

Application: BIS (Benelux import system, with export transactions) is the Client's application for Customs clearance in the Benelux countries. This Uniface application, with about 400 components on 195 tables, is a key application to create and manage customs declarations, and to supply countless other software with data.

Customer: FedEx Corporation (www.fedex.com), the world's largest express transportation company, offering overnight courier, heavy freight, document copying and logistics services. Industry: Air Courier. Revenue: $36 Billion USD (2007). Employees: 275,000 (2006).

The contract was set for an initial period of 3 months and was then continuously extended.

2004: Application for Customer Relationship Management.

Merge the functionalities of a CRM application into another one. The specifications required in particular the synchronization of records in various Uniface non-modal instances.

Customer: The signed contract maintains certain information in professional secrecy. Revenue: 440 Million Euros (2005). Employees: 2,300 (2005).

2003: Application for Customer Relationship Management.

Development of the new Customer Relationship Management application, with sales through the phone and with all required interfaces to other applications in use.

Special achievements:

• Everything (improvements of the functional requirements, data model corrections, coding with technical comments, testing and documentation) could be completed within the deadlines and with some more additional functionalities

• A local employee, new to Uniface development, was also prepared to overtake the maintenance of the created application.

Customer: Maximo SA (www.maximo.fr) provides a high quality (food) delivery service since 1970. More than 1'000 Tons fresh and frozen food articles are daily prepared for delivery to about 550'000 clients in France with more than 1'200 vehicles on duty.

Environment: Uniface V8.2.03 on test, V7.2.05 with Polyserver and Application Server, Informix RDBMS V7.30, Unix, Microsoft XP Professional.

2000: Motor vehicles tax application.

Improvement of a third party software managing the debtors of the motor vehicles tax department of the canton Zurich. Error handling was particularly improved.

Client: Motor vehicles tax department of the canton Zurich (www.stva.zh.ch) manages all the fees and taxes on motor vehicles for the canton Zurich. The contract was performed on behalf of Epsilon (www.epsilon.ch).

2002-1998: Global solution for Swiss municipalities.

Improvement of the Larix application and development of new functionalities:

Special achievements:

• Migration of the full application from the character version (Uniface V4.5/V5.2, Oracle V6 RDBMS, Unix machine accessed through terminal emulations, Unix scripts, C programs, (PL /) SQL scripts, and so on) to a fully functioning Windows GUI client/server application (Uniface V7.2.06, Oracle V7 RDBS).

• Improvement of the code quality through error correction, error management, data model corrections, use of development standards (Oracle National Language Settings versus Uniface NLS, zero value management,…). Support Team could then be reduced from 15 to 3 persons.

• Development of new functionalities, new interfaces and some special ETL (Extract, Transform = convert, shop) processes, with full software life cycle (analysis, coding, testing and documentation). Attempts to catch/document the business knowledge in software engineering tools (Oracle Developer and Rational Rose). Improvement of the installation process (PL / SQL). Support of the training group.

• Lead of 25 developers of ILink Software Pvt. Ltd. (www.ilinksoftware.com) in Bangalore (India) for the migration and for 6 months. Management of the external development companies (Epsilon SA www.epsilon.ch, Infover AG www.infover.ch for taxes, Mr. Zwimpfer www.ikz.ch for the new debtor module). Representation in external meetings and workshops, for example, with the post office.

Application: Larix (Local Administration Running under Unix) was the open global solution for public administrations of Bull (Switzerland) AG. Hundred of Swiss municipalities used it for their daily business, on local machines or through computing centres. The following main modules (for a total of 2'710 components and more than 700 tables) were available in German, French and Italian:

• Menu and utilities system (140 components).

• Central address administration (230 components for 60 tables).

• Inhabitant control (520 components for 100 tables).

• Financial accounting with financial plan/budget (350 components for 90 tables).

• Taxes administration (660 components for more than 150 tables in 4 sub modules).

• Debtor and Creditor management (respectively 270 components for 90 tables and 170 for 50).

• Management of taxes for electricity, gas, water/sewer management, … (295 components for 90 tables).

• Free Object (real estate entities normally) management (75 components).

• Interfaces with a lot of third parties software (Banks, Post, accounting and billing systems, scanning and entering systems, Microsoft Office…).

Client: Rimo Bedag Gemeindeninformatik AG in 1998, renamed All Public AG in 2000. In 2001, the company sold its activities in software edition to its competitor Ruf Informatik AG (www.ruf.ch).

The contract was initially stated for a few weeks and continuously extended.

1998-1996: FIS 2000, a global solution for banks.

Improvement of the FIS 2000 application and development of new functionalities for reference data management, trading orders management (full software life cycle: analysis, coding, testing and documentation), a batch module of the central accounting (full software life cycle), and creation of development policy (null control, Oracle transaction management, error management system, HTML documentation documents for the intranet, etc.).

Customer: Finis AG (www.finis.ch) develops integrated and workflow-controlled software packages for merchant and portfolio management banks. About 100 specialists are involved in the construction of a modern, integrated client-server solution and the applications are developed in close co-operation with the shareholder banks.

Working place: Lenzburg (Switzerland). Language: German.

Environment: Uniface V7/6, Oracle RDBMS V7, Windows NT 4 in a network of DEC, IBM and Unix machines.

1996: Application for common descent (genealogy) control.

Support the project leader in the development of the data model, guidelines, templates and components. The application allows the storage, the administration and the comparison of various genetic analyses, also through a Web (HTML) interface. Lead of an additional developer.

Customer: Institute of Animal Genetics, Nutrition and Housing (www.genetics.unibe.ch), Bern university, has the responsibility to control the genealogy of animals through the analysis of micro-satellites. The contract was performed on behalf of Compuware Switzerland (www.compuware.ch).

1995-1994: Global solution for the industry.

Improvement of the Crescendo application and development of new functionalities:

• Extension of the information system with additional tables but without changing the existing data model, in order to stay compatible with the future versions.

• Logistics: New algorithm for the distribution of parts/items within branches of the network, the main ware house management,…

Customer: Derendinger AG (www.derendinger.ch) is a Swiss company in spare car parts retailing: 120'000 parts for about 14'000 car types in 28 subsidiaries with attached workshops are delivered with more than 200 vehicles to the garages. The client/server software solution of the Fey Consulting AG (still represented through Syz AG Informatik, www.syzag.ch), called Crescendo and written with Uniface in German/French/Italian, was used to manage most of the activities: trading, finance and accounting, stock and movements, human resources, etc.

The contract was initially for 3 months and continuously extended.

1994: Global customer management solution with deadline control.

Improvement of the Tegeko application (deadline and operation control) and development of new functionalities: Implementation of coding standards for software quality, development of a new keyboard layout for Uniface applications under Windows, re-engineering of the code with C routines, development of statistical modules (tank control), etc.

Customer: DEC, Digital Equipment Corporation AG, developed the Tegeko application (“Termin- und Geschäftskontrolle”, which means Deadlines and Business control) for environmental protection authorities. This Client/Server global solution offered the functionalities of a customer relationship management (CRM) system: expiration date tracking and management, business processes planning and control, document management, ...

Executive Assistant, in the staff of a General Director: Business organization, accounting control and personnel management for the retail business (Western Switzerland) and for the All-Finance Division (insurance and investment). Coaching of various IT projects (LAN installations, Email).

Controlling specialist (Corporate Finance and accounting, methods and tools): project manager of an internal refinancing and investment system for transactions with interest constraints (full life cycle and with management of the development companies), developer of an accounting prototype to analyse results with inter-bank market rates, controller (investigations and reporting reports).
